Cosmetology

This course will cover all areas of cosmetology, skincare, manicuring and pedicuring. Completion of this course and the State Board National Examination and Licensure will allow the Cosmetologist to perform such skills as hair stylists, chemical applications, manicuring and pedicuring services. Hilltop Beauty School starts students at a freshman level, once you finish this level you will become a junior, and after finishing the junior level, you then become a senior until you finish your 1,500 hours. Our hands-on approach helps our students master the skill necessary to pass the state board exam and also help them to start a successful career once they have graduated. All Salon Techniques are taught throughout the 1,500 hour program.

Curriculum

  • A curriculum contains the subjects that are to be taught within the course of study.
  • The State of California, Board of Barbering and Cosmetology mandates the curriculum of all cosmetology schools.
  • How this curriculum is taught or delivered by the school and its instructors to the students will to a large degree, be instrumental in the level of your success in your new career.

Cosmetology Course Curriculum

The curriculum for students enrolled in a cosmetologist course shall consist of 1,500 clock hours of technical instruction and practical operations covering all practices constituting the art of cosmetology pursuant to Section 7316 of the Barbering and Cosmetology Act. Technical instruction means instruction given by demonstration, lecture, classroom participation, or examination. Practical operation shall mean actual performance by the student of a complete service on another person or mannequin. Normal completion for our Cosmetology course in weeks and months: 12 – 18 months; 53 – 84 weeks.

Cosmetology Course Performance Objectives:

Once you have become a licensed cosmetologist you will then be prepared to seek employment for profit as a hair dresser, salon manager, salon owner, hair colorist, product demonstrator or styling publicist.

Graduation Requirements

Cosmetology:

All students who have completed the required hours and operations upon finishing their 1,500 hour course graduate. When a student has completed all required hours and operations and the cumulative total of 1,500 hours (clock) for the Cosmetology course with a GPA (Grade Point Average) of (70%) “C” or better he/she is awarded a diploma certifying his/her graduation. Students are helped with the necessary papers that they need to file with the State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology Examination.

Manicuring/Nail Care

Manicuring/Nail Care

This course will cover all areas of Manicuring/Nail Care and pedicuring. Successful completion of this course and the State National Examination and Licensure will allow the nail technician to perform manicuring and pedicuring services.

Manicuring/Nail Care Course Curriculum

The curriculum for students enrolled in a manicurist course consist of 400 clock hours of technical instruction and practical operations that cover all the practices which constitutes the art of manicuring pursuant to Section 7316 of the Barbering and Cosmetology Act. Technical instruction means instruction given by demonstration, lecture, classroom participation, or examination. Practical operation shall mean actual performance by the student of a complete service on another person or mannequin. Normal completion for our Manicuring course in weeks and months: 2.5 – 5 months; 10 – 20 weeks.

The Manicuring/Nail Care curriculum includes the following classes:

  • Nail Wraps and Repairs
  • Disinfection and Sanitation
  • Bacteriology, Anatomy and Physiology
  • Employment Training

  • Pedicure: Ankle and Foot Massage

Manicuring/Nail Care Course Performance Objectives:

Teacher Training

Teacher Training

This course will cover the technical methods of instruction given by demonstrations; communications skills; lecture; classroom participation; or examination. The practical skills of this course shall mean actual performance by the teacher trainee of teaching techniques and principles.

Teacher Training Course Curriculum

The curriculum for licensed cosmetologists enrolled in the Teacher Trainee course shall consist of 600 clock hours which covers instruction, demonstration and hands-on practice to reinforce learning. Our classes give students intense instruction on the procedures that salons and clients demands. Normal completion for our Teacher Trainee course in weeks and months: 5 – 8 months; 20 – 32 weeks.

The Teacher Training curriculum includes the following classes:

  • Conducting Classroom Technical Instruction and Demonstration
  • Supervising and Training of Students
  • Instruction Techniques
  • Organization Techniques
  • Techniques of Evaluation
  • Lesson Planning

Teacher Training Course Performance Objectives:

To help develop the ability to teach related information, operations and techniques. To use teaching aids, such as instruction sheets, visual aids, and tests, and to provide information about specific teaching techniques used by the vocational teacher in the working area and classroom.

Graduation Requirements

Teacher Training: They shall have completed all theory and operations required by the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology with an average grade of (70%) “C” or better. He or she will be awarded with a diploma certifying his/her graduation, upon completion of 600 hours (clock).1
