This course will cover all areas of cosmetology, skincare, manicuring and pedicuring. Completion of this course and the State Board National Examination and Licensure will allow the Cosmetologist to perform such skills as hair stylists, chemical applications, manicuring and pedicuring services. Hilltop Beauty School starts students at a freshman level, once you finish this level you will become a junior, and after finishing the junior level, you then become a senior until you finish your 1600 hours. Our hands-on approach helps our students master the skill necessary to pass state board exams and also help them to start a successful career once they have graduated. Once they reach the senior level they will be given State Board’ mock exams.

The Cosmetology placement rate for 2009 was...70% Job Placement is provided for all of our graduates. Students are encouraged to return for placement assistance by reviewing the listings of salons seeking employees and the requirements, salary and other pertinent information. Graduates are sent on interviews and the results of these interviews are recorded in the student register. Until the student has been successful in the job search, we will do all in our power to assist you. However the school does not guarantee placement.

A curriculum contains the subjects that are to be taught within the course of study. The State of California, Board of Barbering and Cosmetology mandates the curriculum of all cosmetology schools. How this curriculum is taught or delivered by the school and its instructors to the students will to a large degree, be instrumental in the level of your success in your new career. The curriculum for students enrolled in a cosmetologist course shall consist of 1600 clock hours of technical instruction and practical operations covering all practices constituting the art of cosmetology pursuant to Section 7316 of the Barbering and Cosmetology Act. Technical instruction means instruction given by demonstration, lecture, classroom participation, or examination. Practical operation shall mean actual performance by the student of a complete service on another person or mannequin. Normal completion for our Cosmetology course in weeks and months: 12 - 18 months; 53 - 84 weeks.

Once you have become a licensed cosmetologist you will then be prepared to seek employment for profit as a hair dresser, salon manager, salon owner, hair colorist, product demonstrator or styling publicist.

Cosmetology: All students who have completed the required hours and operations upon finishing their 1600 hour course graduate. When a student has completed all required hours and operations and the cumulative total of 1600 hours (clock) for the Cosmetology course with a GPA (Grade Point Average) of (70%) “C” or better he/she is awarded a diploma certifying his/her graduation. Students are helped with the necessary papers that they need to file with the State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology Examination.
